About

The infographics weblog is a running collection of links to infographics found on the web through my own research and the submissions of many individuals. If you have a submission that you would like to see posted, please let me know: nix at nixlog dot com.

Often more powerful than words or imagery alone, infographics utilize visual elements of design and words to convey a message in such a way that context, meaning and understanding are trancended to the observer in a manner not previously experienced. The observer becomes enlighted, having learned from the visual feast and is motivated to seek out more knowledge in this medium. // enough of my B.S...basically, information graphics rock. They can present a wealth of information without intimidating you. Or sometimes they intimidate you, but make the digesting of the information much more bearable. O.K. I'm done. Enjoy the links.

September 11th Infographics

Collection of links to infographics, information graphics and presentations on the terrorist attaacks of September 11th, 2001.

The September 11th Infographics Collection: Often more powerful than words or imagery alone, infographics utilize visual elements of design and words to convey a message in such a way that context, meaning and understanding are trancended to the observer in a manner not previously experienced. This is certainly the case with this collection. Our understanding of the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon was deepened by the work of the designers and art departments of major media outlets around the world. Regardless of format (graphics, flash or PDF) we have a record beyond words and photos. We have visual storytelling that puts a context around timelines, events and geography. We have tools to tell the story decades from now.

How Al Qaeda's global network slowly came into focus for U.S. intelligence (1993-2001). The Frontline website follows the show with a very interesting Flash infographic showing how the FBI's knowledge of Al Qaeda developed overtime.
