Beautiful day to run the San Francisco half-marathon. We enjoyed the event - hills and all. The highlight was running over and back across the Golden Gate Bridge. I think that's it for me and long running events this year, I would like to get back on my bike now please.

1. Discontinue the penalty shootout. No one likes to see a game decided on penalty kicks. It's about time FIFA came up with a more imaginative way to settle ties. One suggestion: Play overtime until one team scores, but with a twist -- force the coaches to take off one player every two minutes, up to a maximum of six players. Five on five on a full-sized pitch -- at some point someone's bound to score...
Reminds me of playing two on two full court basketball growing up. Inevitably it would just turn into a crazy game of fast breaks.

Rebecca and I enjoyed a great week in Lake Tahoe with her family over the Fourth of July. Putting aside the usual holiday chaos (people, traffic, etc.) it is an amazing place to experience by car, boat, bike or foot. Photos on Flickr.
